Very well done information on Alaska culture, history and nature. Enjoyed visit thoroughly. They even have a video about the Kilcher family Exhibits were very uninspired. The $10 entrance fee goes toward ???? The garden out front is poorly labeled and the pocket guides provided do not reflect most of the plants you see. The guides show plants that are not even planted. Full of really great and interesting historical items. There are 3 floors. We were not able to see everything before having to get back on the road. Wonderful displays and great volunteers who are very knowledgeable. We loved the Alaskan women's display A gem in downtown Homer. Though somewhat small, it is crammed with exhibits that provide an insight into the people who came to Alaska for a fresh start. Lots of interact areas with audio about the settlers, plan to spend a lot of time if you get hooked on one of the stories. We also enjoyed the videos in the basement area with the wildlife displays. A plus for my wife who is a quilter were a number of quilts around the building including one that was being raffled off. Outside is a example of a settler cabin including the out-building. A very nice option on any day but especially if you need to find an inside activity on inclement weather.
