My husband and I really enjoyed our day with Rick and Darla. They are both very gracious, welcoming and informed guides. Rick very thoroughly went through kayaking and safety basics and we appreciated the small group size (6 clients/2guides). Each couple was assigned a double sea kayak. This was essentially a nature tour, rather than a kayak tour. The kayaking was very easy, and we rested often to look at eagles, seals, porpoise and otter. We didn't see any whales on our trip, but they often do. Darla cooked up a wonderful fresh salmon soup for lunch when we stopped at a favorite island spot. While we paddled, she would occasionally pluck various seaweeds out of the water, and once on the island, Rick harvested some edible plants, all of which went into the deliciously flavored soup! Darla had also brought along some of her freshly baked sourdough bread and butter. Quite a treat! We thought the price was fair, as it included the water taxi both ways from Homer Harbor, the day of kayaking, and lunch. We would definitely recommend them to anyone, especially if you don't want a really vigorous trip. (they may well provide that as well, but I do not know.) Communicating with them was easy and efficient. They also have two rental cabins, which would likely be quite magical to stay in if you had the time. Perhaps we'll do that next year!! Many thanks for a great Seaside adventure! You won't find a more amazing experience in the last frontier. It's like being taken far away to a magical kingdom of beauty and serenity.
